Clarity over cramming
Students learn how to reason through unfamiliar problems—not just repeat a worksheet pattern.
Smart Mind Academy helps students build confidence in math, coding, and test-taking. We work with families preparing for Oxford Academy, Whitney High School, and other magnet schools, with homeschool families, and with students getting ready for the SAT.

About Smart Mind Academy
Smart Mind Academy helps students build the habits behind lasting academic confidence: curiosity, persistence, and the ability to explain how they got there.
From everyday homework to selective-school preparation, we meet students where they are and give them a clear path forward.
Students learn how to reason through unfamiliar problems—not just repeat a worksheet pattern.
Instructors notice the confidence dips, the breakthrough moments, and the next skill to strengthen.
Clear goals, regular updates, and practical next steps keep parents connected to the learning journey.
Programs
Test preparation, contest practice, everyday math help, and private tutoring. We can help you figure out which one fits after a free assessment.
Preparation for the Oxford Academy and Whitney High School entrance exams. We review the math topics, practice the question types, and work on pacing.
Math preparation for the SAT and ACT. We start by finding which topics need work, then practice them with real timed sections.
Practice for MATHCOUNTS, AMC 8/10/12, and similar contests. Students work on harder, multi-step problems and learn to explain their reasoning.
Math work at or a little above grade level, for students who want more practice or more challenge than they get in class.
Private sessions built around your child: their class, their pace, and the topics they find hardest.
A short, hands-on program where kids use math to collect, organize, and chart real data, then explain what it shows.
Summer 2027
Each camp mixes short lessons, hands-on practice, and a small project students can share at the end.
Summer 2027 camps are being planned now. Contact us to join the interest list and be the first to hear about dates.
Mathematics
Puzzles, number sense, geometry, and word problems, with time to practice and talk through answers.
Coding
Small games, animations, and projects that teach the basics of Python and web pages.
Data
Collect information, make charts, and figure out what the numbers are really saying.
Tutoring services
Whether a student needs steady weekly help, a hand with tonight’s homework, or a harder challenge, sessions are built around what they actually need.
One student, one plan, one instructor who knows exactly what to work on next.
Get unstuck without giving away the answer. Students learn how to approach the next problem independently.
Practice logic and persistence through programming challenges matched to the student’s level.

Talk about your programConsistent math, coding, or data sessions that complement your family’s homeschool rhythm.
Interactive instruction with a clear lesson plan, practice time, and instructor feedback.
Enrichment families can use as an elective, supplemental course, or focused academic pathway.
The learning lab
A glimpse at the kinds of problems, code, and data stories students explore with Smart Mind Academy.
Math problem
Solve for x
2x + 7 = 19
2x = 12
x = 6
Students explain each move, check the answer, and then create a similar problem of their own.
Code sample
Find the average
01scores = [82, 91, 88]
02average = sum(scores) / len(scores)
03print(round(average, 1))
Coding challenges turn a concept into a working program students can test, debug, and improve.
Data story
Ask better questions
Students collect observations, build simple charts, and use evidence to tell a clear story.
What you can expect
Set together after a free assessment, so everyone knows what we are working toward.
Parents hear what was covered, what is going well, and what still needs practice.
A straight answer about where your child is right now and what to work on next.
Our remote sessions feel personal because they are. Students work live with an instructor on a shared whiteboard, ask questions in real time, and leave with a clear next step—not a recording to watch later.
Live whiteboard teaching
Every solution is explained, worked through, and corrected together.
Oxford-ready support
Small-group and 1-on-1 options for ambitious local students.

Our method
Every student follows the same four steps, adjusted to their level and goals.
We start with a free assessment to see what your child already knows and where they get stuck.
Together we set goals that fit your child, your schedule, and any test or school you are preparing for.
Lessons focus on understanding why something works, not just memorizing steps, in small groups or 1-on-1.
Parents get regular updates on what we covered and what to work on next.
